Trainspotting

Yesterday it was a grey & dull day, with light drizzle and some cold wind and my son decides he wants to go trainspotting. Being a good mum, I decide - OK, lets go to the new station at Hyllie. Took the bus there (my son also likes buses by the way) and then we watched for trains. Not a very comfortable experience as it is a very open and quite windy train station, but my son loved it. And so, it was worth the cold feet and frozen nose :-)

Farewell and Thank you!

Bought in 1996, my hiking boots finally gave in.
So I say: farewell and thanks for long and reliable service!
Hopefully I can find a replacement pair in the January sales
- whenever I get time to go shopping!

Happy New Financial Me!

Well, it is a new year and time for some good new habits. This year, I will not only minimize and reduce (my stuff seems to be everywhere) but also strive to get a real good look at my finances. I have always been rather good at finance but truth be told, I honestly do not know 100% where my money is or where it goes!?! So I have decided to find out.

First I will make a balance sheet of my asset s and my liabilities. Then I will try to find out what I spend money on every month. And then I will make a budget. What is the purpose of all this you may wonder? Well, I would like to see that at the end of 2011, I am in stronger financial shape than at the start of the year. Paying off on mortgage and on student loan as well as saving more (which means consuming less) and investing in shares and mutual funds should have me ending the year in hopefully a stronger position than I am in today. Not that I am in a bad shape today, it is just that I do not know exactly in how good a shape I am in.

Do you know what financial shape you are in?
